How it all began...
First Celina has a proud 143 year history of ministry to Celina. Pastor Kevin Lykins assumed his position of ministry on May 8, 2011 and is the 37th pastor in the history of FBC. First Celina was founded on December 12, 1874 as the Crossroads Baptist Church of Christ located 1 mile east of the current location at the corner of CR94. A heart for reaching people can be seen in the history of the church as they grew from the humble beginnings of 12 members to over 300 by 1902. In July of 1902, the church agreed to purchase property in Celina and relocated to the corner of Pecan and Seventh Street. As a part of the move, the church changed its name to First Baptist Church. The church continued to grow through the years through evangelism and in 1925 the church completed their new church building which is still on Walnut Street on the square. In 1988, the church moved to this site in where it has continued to reach the community. The current worship center was completed in 1998 and the last building completed here was the youth and children’s wing in 2004.
20/20 Vision
In early 2016, First Celina launched a campaign and "Master Plan" that became part of our 20/20 Vision. The city of Celina has recently been named the fastest growing city in the Dallas Metroplex and the church is poised to meet the spiritual needs of the families moving into the area. We are currently seeing tremendous growth in our congregation and the Master Plan includes several renovations and new buildings to provide more space to accommodate the needs of our congregation. We strongly affirm Proverbs 16:9, "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps."
